Recently I also became the owner of this “device”.

The standard "K" (unattenuated) version is similar to the Israeli "ultrasound". Three months later, I still feel puppyish delight and... am saving money for the bunker version.

Like this!

Advantages:
  1. Nice appearance
  2. A very convenient weapon. The most well-thought-out ergonomics of all air guns that I have held in my hands. It is convenient to shoot both with one hand (right, left, it doesn’t matter) and with two hands.
  3. Possibility of automatic firing without loss of power.
  4. High power. The bullet's penetration power is much higher than my MP 561K pistol, which uses the same CO2 cartridge.
  5. Rifled barrel.
  6. Therefore, it is possible to shoot both lead bullets and metal balls. The bullet flies further and hits more accurately.
  7. "Drozd" is made of steel and weapons-grade plastic. Made at the Izhmekh plant, which has been producing the legendary Makarov pistol for the last 50 years. The manufacturing quality of the weapon is quite high, because most of the “black birds” are exported.
  8. The batteries, the cheapest alkaline ones, bought for 12 rubles apiece, have been serving for more than 2 months with almost daily shooting. Those. the weapon is very economical. Electrical energy is spent on the movement of the valve only at the moment of firing. I don’t know how long the batteries last in the hopper version; the motor in the hopper runs constantly.
  9. Price issue. Even for the average Russian, the retail price of approximately $220 for the standard version and $270 for the bunker version is, IMHO, quite adequate. Yes, for this money you can buy a bourgeois budget rifle. But the real joy of “Droza” is burst shooting. And the pleasure of shooting in bursts (the thrill of shooting) is definitely worth the money spent on it.
  10. The bunker "Drozd" turns into a regular one by inserting a regular clip into the handle. But you can’t make a bunker out of an ordinary Drozd. So, buy the Drozd bunker right away, you won’t regret it!
Huge opportunities for upgrades and tuning. More on this below.
  1. Flaws. These are the disadvantages Drozd users cite on weapons forums.
  2. You cannot flood the device.
  3. Neither rain, nor beer... And the instructions say nothing about this.
  4. Dropping it is also not recommended, as the electronic valve may become dislodged.
  5. The disadvantage of any CO2 weapon is a strong drop in power when the temperature drops. This shortcoming can be “cured” by switching to refillable compressed air cylinders.
  6. And yet the weapon needs to be “finished.” The bunker model has a very flimsy mount for the heavy bunker magazine. This mount simply does not hold 400 lead bullets and falls out. This disease is “treated” by gluing steel plates in the area where the magazine is attached.
  7. During any sharp maneuvers with the bunker “Drozd”, the balls in the bunker rattle loudly, like in a child’s rattle.
  8. There are also such complaints: the inability to shoot from the bunker modification “upside down”. The balls simply do not flow from the magazine into the barrel in this position. The disease is treated with a special spring compression. The kit for such completion is mass-produced in the USA.
The bunker "Drozd" is quite noisy. The engine in the bunker is humming loudly. But personally, as a Japanese, I personally see the only negative in “Drozd”, the full price of “post-shooters” (spray cans + balls).“Hmm, such a thing requires a factory for the production of balls, and a compressor like that of firefighters.”

People on gun forums know what they are talking about. No matter how many cans you take, everything goes off. But believe me, the pleasure you get from these shooting games is worth it! And my next purchase will be a station for refilling cans of compressed air or something similar. And inexpensive, good, round fraction 00, where can I buy a hundred kilograms? Otherwise I'll go broke!

It’s good that I bought “Drozd” itself very cheaply. Now the coolest American site for selling air guns is selling the same Drozd model as mine (IZH Drozd BB Pistol with Suppressor), as much as $329.5!

And one more topic. Tuning! This is where your imagination can really run wild... The barrel of a weapon can easily be changed. Many foreign companies install a long barrel on the IZH Drozd, covered with a casing in the style of a Browning M2 heavy machine gun.

A solid design allows the use of gas pressure many times higher than the pressure of a standard canister. True, this will require different electronic settings. But all this has long been calculated and calculated. The buttstock is hollow, which allows you to place additional batteries there. Connector for external power supply for fans of unlimited shooting with compressed air, because electricity consumption at high pressure increases many times, up to 7 times! When shooting from a car, you can use a special adapter so as not to drain the batteries. The weapon can be fitted with Picanilli strips on all four sides.

And on these slats you can hang a huge number of accessories. Laser target designators, tactical flashlights, handles and bipods... And on and on and on... I'm not even talking about the different color options.

This pistol is most interesting to hardball players, although other fans of pneumatic shooting will also find it useful to learn something new about the most famous machine gun in the hardball world - Drozd MP-661. It is produced by the Izhevsk plant. At the moment there are three modifications of this weapon.

Description

The weapon described is the most successful variation of automatic pneumatics. Abroad they have been trying to do something similar for a long time, and there are many successful models, but all of them are seriously inferior to the Russian “birdie”. This was confirmed by the test of time and various tests; “Drozd” successfully withstood all the rigors of tough selection.

The peculiarity of Russian weapons is that they do not have a real prototype among firearms. Although there is still debate in the community on this matter, there are many versions of the origin of the submachine gun. But none of them is close to the truth, and it is the following - the blackbird is a collective image of almost all modern representatives of the pneumatic submachine gun tribe.

It is customary to distinguish three main modifications produced by the Izhevsk plant:

  1. MP-661k;
  2. MR-661ks;
  3. MP-661k-08.

Let's look at each option in more detail, and start with the classics - MP-661k. it has the following performance characteristics:

  • dimensions – 380x245x40mm;
  • curb weight is 1.4 kg;
  • has a caliber of 4.5 mm, the ammunition used is explosive balls;
  • the barrel is 185 mm long, the bullet flies out of it at a speed of 140 m/s.

Users note its pleasant appearance, the handle is very comfortable, and the gun is quite easy to use. Equipped with a removable stock that improves the appearance of the weapon. True, many users do not use it when shooting, considering it terribly inconvenient.

Outwardly, the thrush resembles a somewhat futuristic-looking ultrasound, but still is not one.

Let us repeat once again - this is a completely original pneumatic model that has no combat prototypes. The materials used for manufacturing are steel and plastic.

Experts believe that the main difference from similar Russian models is that Drozd uses electronics and automatic firing. 6 AA batteries are used as a power source. Small batteries can also be inserted.

On the left side of the body there is a safety switch that activates the weapon. Activation is noticeable by the red light coming on. On the right side, the manufacturer has placed the firing mode switch. You can choose to shoot:

  • single shots;
  • bursts of three bullets (in this case, the rate of fire will be equal to 300 rounds per minute);
  • burst of 6 bullets (rate of fire increases to 600 rounds per minute).

The device is complemented by a removable butt, which can be adjusted to fit itself using a special insert - in the short version it rests on the forearm when shooting, in the long version it rests on the shoulder.

The clip is inserted into the handle. In addition to the box for thirty bullets, the magazine has space for a gas cartridge, an expansion chamber, and a valve. The last one was taken from .

The manufacturer calculated the capabilities of the expansion chamber in such a way that when firing a burst of 6 bullets, they all fly at the same speed. No competitor of IZHMASH has yet managed to achieve this.

The trigger in the usual sense does not exist; more precisely, it has retained its appearance, but it is a button that closes the circuit, after which it becomes possible to fire from the Drozd.

Gas cartridges can be used 12 or 88 gram. In the latter case, it is connected through a special adapter. The mechanism for piercing the cylinder depends on the type of magazine: if it is screw-type, then the cylinder must be screwed in, but if it is wedge-shaped, then we pierce the membrane using pressure with a lever.

The magazine can be charged using a compact loader. Many shooters use the latter to mislead the enemy on the battlefield - they simply shake it, the enemy, hearing a familiar noise, thinks that the opponent is reloading, which means he is helpless, and stops hiding. This is where you can catch them.

The sight is open, with the ability to adjust in two axes. The barrel has a length of 185 mm; when fired, it allows the bullet to accelerate to 160 m/s. The shooting is very compact, the spread is minimal, even when firing in a burst of 6 bullets. The cost of such a Drozd in a standard version starts from 6 thousand rubles. A very reasonable price for serious pneumatics.

Bunker model

Modification MP-661K-08 is the last of the above. Many users gave it their name - bunker Drozd, based on the charging method. Its clip contains not three dozen bullets, but all 400. A skilled shooter can use this hardball machine gun to single-handedly confront several opponents at once, or even a couple of dozen.

The main differences with the standard model are as follows:

  • Instead of a standard magazine for 30 bullets, an entire structure is used, which includes four hundred balls. When the structure is connected to a pistol, the latter takes on a futuristic appearance.
  • For nutrition he uses not one, but three 12 gram cans. or one, but at 88 gr..
  • A standard Weaver bar was placed on top for various plumb lines.

The cost of weapons starts from 8 thousand rubles. Otherwise, the design has not undergone any changes compared to the standard one.

A weakened version of the CS modifications described above. Many hardball players call her the neutered blackbird. The main difference from the standard model is the trimmed barrel, its length is 75 mm, which led to a decrease in the power of the shot and it is now equal to the legally required 3 J.

The manufacturer puts a false barrel on it, and this pistol looks like a standard one. A layman can't tell the difference by looking at it. The false barrel also plays the role of a silencer.

The cost of this model is slightly lower than the standard version, and many people take advantage of this. They purchase a weakened model and then replace the barrel with a normal one, returning the lost power.

Advantages and disadvantages

The first owners include the following characteristics:

  • there is no recoil, although the blowback system is present;
  • automatic shooting does not result in a loss of power or it is so insignificant that it is practically not felt;
  • parts are made of weapons-grade steel and plastic, no silumin;
  • excellent combination of power and accuracy.

The disadvantages include:

  • You need to have a supply of batteries with you, although the inserted ones last for a long time.
  • The ambient temperature greatly affects the cans. When shooting at tempo in cold conditions, they cool down quickly. The rate and power of fire decreases.
  • Electronics. It can also be considered a plus, because it provides more opportunities for fine tuning than pure mechanics, and at the same time it is the Achilles heel of the weapon - non-contact, static, cold soldering.
  • High price for many. For the price of Drozd you can buy a couple of conventional pneumatic guns.

In addition, many owners note that recently there have been a lot of defects from the manufacturer.

Modernization

As one of the great people said: “The ideal is unattainable, but one must strive for it.” It’s the same with Drozd, it’s optimal, but with minor modifications on the part of the owner it becomes even better.

External tuning is possible for everyone, since you can install muzzle guards, a tactical body kit, optics, or replace a standard stock. True, many limit themselves to installing a collimator sight and laser designator. In this case, there is an increase in the quality of shooting offhand and from the hip.

  • Replacing electronics. Most owners immediately change the control board and remove the 6-shot mark and switch the pistol to full automatic fire. In this case, Drozd becomes simply a hurricane, sweeping away everything in its path.
  • Changing the barrel. The barrel can be checked in a very simple way; if you see gas splashing from it when firing, then its balance is poor. In addition, this threatens excessive gas consumption, which means a decrease in the rate of fire and an increase in consumption for the same gas. The problem is eliminated by installing a longer barrel, plus you can get a slight increase in power.
  • Transfer to air. When firing in bursts, especially from a bunker thrush, three cans are enough for only a few seconds of normal shooting, after which the shooter feels a drop in power. The solution is to switch to compressed air or larger cylinders.

From all of the above, we can draw the following conclusion: Drozd is worth the money asked for it, and if you still spend money on fine-tuning it, then you will have in your hands the best automatic air pistol for recreational shooting. It is not particularly suitable for hunting and self-defense.

We have been talking about air guns seriously for the last two decades; before that, our acquaintance with them was limited to the opportunity to shoot at a shooting range with low-power, rickety air guns. But, like any other weapon, pneumatic weapons must operate within the strict legal framework.

Yes, Art. 3 of the Law of the Russian Federation “On Weapons” states that there are two types of pneumatic weapons, sports (muzzle energy no more than 3 J) and hunting (muzzle energy no more than 25 J).

It turns out that “pneumatics” are allowed for use exclusively in two versions: at sports shooting ranges and shooting ranges and during hunting events.

Self-defense issues

The Decree of the President of the Russian Federation of 2010 introduced a restriction on the previously existing free sale of pneumatic weapons, and provided for sanctions in the form of administrative penalties and fines for violating the requirements of this document. But there are quite a large number of “pneumatics” on hand, and many are concerned about the procedure for using this type of weapon in self-defense. Here the Weapons Law comes into clear conflict with the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. We outlined the provisions of Article 3 of the Federal Law of the Russian Federation “On Weapons” earlier. There is not a word said about self-defense. That is, the use of this type of weapon is not intended for self-defense. The Criminal Code of the Russian Federation considers the definition of self-defense as the use of any means that can reduce potential harm to human health, i.e. almost all possible items that are at hand. Why couldn't that item be an air gun? In any case, in each specific case of the use of pneumatic weapons, the case will be reviewed by the judicial authorities, and the qualifications of the actions of the defending person will depend on the verdict of these lawyers.

Practice shows that it is impossible to stop a person under the influence of alcohol or drugs with a bullet that will only scratch the skin and contribute to the formation of a hematoma. These people’s pain threshold is already low, but sending them into rage will definitely work. Therefore, you should think about the possibility of using this type of weapon.

Submachine gun MP-661K "Drozd"

The MP-661K Drozd pneumatic submachine gun was, in its way, the “first-born” of such equipment in Russia. It was invented in the design bureau of the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant by the excellent Russian gunsmith-designer V.L. Cherepanov, based on the IZH-46 sports-type pistol. This type of weapon is a submachine gun with 30 charges and a gas cylinder with carbon dioxide, externally reminiscent of the Israeli-made Mini-UZI submachine gun.

The latest model of this unique automatic gas pistol has gained a high rating and popularity among pistols in this segment, which has absorbed all the new technologies and design projects of the designers of the Izhevsk Baikal enterprise.

Currently, the purpose of the pistol is formulated as a pistol for recreational shooting, at the same time, the exterior of this type of weapon and linear dimensions correspond to a submachine gun in service with a number of NATO countries.

The MP-661K Drozd product uses proven design innovations that were tested on prototypes.

The trigger mechanism is made electronic; shooting can be carried out both with single cartridges and in small bursts. It is allowed to regulate the pace and number of cartridges when firing in bursts.

The submachine gun is equipped with a high-capacity bunker-loading clip. Bullets made in the form of a steel sphere, in the amount of 400 pcs. fill the bunker. To fire shots, special cans of carbon dioxide weighing 12 and 8 grams are used. The developed system for connecting and opening the cylinders allows the simultaneous use of three 12 gram gas cylinders.

Subsequent modification of the MP-661K Drozd submachine gun improved the rate of fire of the product, which increases interest in its use. The release mechanism electronics are powered by six 1.5 V "AA" batteries, which are located in the forend. The MP-661K "Drozd" uses the usual MP-654K dispenser, where an expansion tank is structurally added, which provides a high rate of fire. The rate of fire is controlled by a three-position switch operated electronically. It is also located on the fore-end on the right side. The product provides for setting the duration of automatic firing (fixed setting). A set of batteries is enough to fire about 5,000 shots.

The front sight, made of plastic hard materials, is rigidly fixed, the rear sight moves in the vertical and horizontal plane.
The initial speed of a bullet is created by using CO2 compression energy

Happy birthday Andreev Andrey Borisovich!

Gletcher UZM is a pneumatic submachine gun from the American company Gletcher. This model is a copy of small automatic weapons known to everyone in Europe, Asia and the USA. The prototype of Gletcher UZM is the legendary Israeli ultrasound machine. Just like the original gun, the replica is a versatile, portable and practical machine gun.

The external resemblance of the pneumatic copy to the original is simply impressive; of course, the performance characteristics of the pneumatic are very different from the capabilities of the ultrasound, but the Gletcher UZM pistol was not designed for full-fledged combat operations. Nevertheless, this is a fairly high-quality example of pneumatics; the initial bullet speed here reaches 110 m/s. The weight of the Gletcher UZM submachine gun is the same as that of a firearm submachine gun, the magazine holds 24 charges - these are standard copper-plated explosive balls or steel balls. The driving force here is carbon dioxide - 12 gram cylinders are used.

The Gletcher UZM pneumatic is perfect for sports or recreational shooting; its similarity to the original and ample shot power are complemented by a very high accuracy of fire in both normal and full automatic mode. For even greater similarity, the pistol has an imitation of the bolt being folded back. The aiming range of the model is 12 m, suitable for shooting from various positions. Like the firearm prototype, the Gletcher UZM air pistol has a folding stock, which, although not often used, can serve well in a number of situations (for example, when shooting prone).

The pneumatic copy of the Israeli submachine gun is quite durable and reliable. The magazine and barrel of the Gletcher UZM are made of high-quality steel, the body of the weapon is made of a very durable metal alloy. Absolutely all parts are made with high precision; this submachine gun is unpretentious in maintenance and is able to work immediately after being removed from the box.

To fully protect novice shooters from careless use of weapons, the Gletcher UZM has a special safety system in the form of reliable fuses. One of the model's fuses operates in manual mode and blocks the trigger, and the second - the weapon mechanism when the magazine is not completely closed.

The moving shutter is a special Blowback system that provides movement of the shutter for excellent recoil imitation, as well as greater realism during the shooting process.

Special thanks to Andrey Borisovich Andreev for the sample provided
